Well, 3 of the top pet hates are things I've never got tired of - vol/tone pedal, Boss Tone fuzz and phaser. Quite partial to Leslie effect and Ebow too (just wish they still made the one that does 2 strings at the same time).

Greg Cutshaw made the interesting point earlier on that not only can "faddy" sounds become wearing, but so also can straight ones if the room isn't packed with steel buffs. My band plays a lot of styles and I try to come up with something specific for each song. I use chorus a lot, and sometimes an organ sound. If a traditional sound is required I make sure the predelay, decay and regeneration suit the song. I have no "favourite" sounds, just a list of program numbers for the Lexicon!
