David Lindley's steel playing has influenced so many us. Here's a little known Lindley gem: his score for the Rabitt Ears kids series "The Song of Sacajawea" narrated by Laura Dern. The whole series was fantastic and very memorable. It paired great voice actors with classic tales with music by world-class musicians. Danny Glover reading Uncle Rhemus tales with Taj Mahal's background music and Ben Kingsley reading "The Tigar and the Brahmin" with Ravi Shankar's score were favorites of my kids when they were young.

Lindley's score doesn't have any steel (I think) but it is beautiful and evocative.

I'm enjoying this. Lindley's musical sensibilities continue to grow. Great period sort of landscape to the story, mountain music. Delightful.

Glad you're enjoying it! Rabbit Ears really respected the music. Side one of each cassette was the story with music; side two was just all the music.
