Just received my Champ kit. Great work on the body and the
parts are quality. I’m also posting a picture of the case
that it was sent in. Thank you Mr. Hudson for taking such
good care to make sure it made it without damage!

Thanks again for making my ‘Stay at home’ more enjoyable...

I have no interest in these things at all, but they look like an ideal project right now!

Strikes me if you're the kind who likes putting finishes on things, you can spend as much time as you like creating a custom look.

Hey Steven,

Thanks for posting a photo of the shipping container.

If you don't mind it would be great if you could take some more photos of the open container, parts laid out, while finishing the body, during assembly and the final product.

It looks like a fun project. It would be nice to share the fun and excitement with us!

Here is a link to the kits for those who might have missed the link above: https://hudsonsteelguitars.com/t/in-stock-ready-to-ship-items

I just received my Singmaster kit today. I placed the order on Sunday, It shipped on Monday and arrived on Wednesday. You can't expect better service than that.
I have neighbor who lives across the street from me. His
name is Tommy Thompson and he plays and sings and also does guitar repairs and is quite good at it. He will be doing the assembly for me.
I am looking forward to getting a nice 8 string in just a few short days, I will post some pictures when it is done.

I like that it's Fender shaped and made of poplar. The pickups are home made. Usually the original versions of this guitar have the pickups missing gone to Broadcaster wannabes.

I just got my new lap steel delivered by Tommy Thompson. He does guitar repair and plays too.
It looks and plays great! he converted the wooden case it was shipped in, to a nice case for the guitar .

I have now had this instrument for about a week and I can say that it's the best thing I could have done to help me get better at my playing. I simply can't put it down!
It plays great and sounds wonderful.
Mr Hudson did a nice job getting the parts I needed and Tommy Thompson did a great job of putting it all together. He said he applied about twelve coats of tung oil to the body. It took a little while longer than I expected but it was well worth the wait.

Morgan Scoggins,

What a wonderful looking lap steel and that case is totally awesome.

I'm glad you say it plays as good as it looks and that, while it took longer than you expected, it was worth the wait.

Thanks for sharing the photos and your thoughts!

The wait wasn't all that much. Tommy first told me two weeks and it ended up being three weeks mostly due to a health issue with Tommy's Mother. Not bad!

This kit looks like an awesome way to build your own. I may have to use some stimulus money to order one.

I may offer a 10 string kit later but it will be a different body than the string master or Champ style body.

I modified the bridge and nut for higher action and better string break. Vintage Fender nitro lacquer

Johnny, in your pictures a pick up is shown for the Champ style guitar but not on the Stringmaster guitar. Are two pick ups included? If not, any suggestions for acquiring them?

No pickups are in the String master style kits, You can get them from Jerry Sentell pickups.

I had Jerry build me two custom 7-string pickups for my "Ultramaster" rescue/conversion. They sound excellent.
