Yeah, me too Larry. That's about all the picking I do anymore, but we're all trying to keep our distance for now.

I don't own a steel anymore, but a friend's Carter that I use when we get together is in the shed out there.

I have a guit, reso and lap here so I'm OK for sumpn' to pick on.

Just got back home from wintering in Arizona, been keeping busy digging out our snow covered driveway and patio. Spending what time I can behind “Willy”.

Yeah Jerry, I’m splitting my time between my steel, guitar and trombone and bass trumpet, ...dug out a lot of old charts and lessons!..I’m blessed that my wife can handle hearing the same songs over and over ...comes with several decades of living in a band House! Laughing this is 2 weeks ago before the lock down....

I've gotten back into flamenco guitar and have started shaping my nails and working on technique for the first time in about a decade. Originally, I had wanted to try combining steel and flamenco, which I've never seen done. I might try that soon as I hear things in my head....

Since I'm working from home in my pajamas, I didn't bother changing out of them here:

As a baseball fan jonesing about the postponed season, I’m watching re-runs of World Series classics on YouTube. Highly therapeutic.

Getting back into playing jazz on the pedal steel after playing mostly non-pedal these last few years. Working at resolving some mechanical issues with said instrument. Thinking about a new one, even, if anyone is still building them now. I'm not really sure why, as my playing career is probably over, but it's at least a diversion, keeps my brain engaged, and maybe it will produce something worthwhile.

That's amazing James! Did you take lessons?
Funny that I'm recently reading a book about Andalucian history. What a coincidence.

Larry, love the bass trumpet! Mine's a Bach, what's yours?
After a good blow on that the trombone's easy! Smile

I have been putting some stuff up on eBay with a fair amount of success. My Doug Jernigan Digital Sustain by Hilton went to a guy in Germany. I used to be into vintage fountain pen restoration and repair. I sold sold a bunch of those pens that have been lying around for more than a few years. We are looking around the house for more "kewl" stuff to put on eBay before we die and it all just gets thrown into the dumpster! Smile

And yes... learning a bunch of new PSG stuff. I am not above tackling some tab. Just picked up Mike Headrick's tab for "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" off the Sweetheart of the Rodeo. Appropriate?

Thanks! In my early 20's (1999) I moved to Sevilla with the motivation to learn to play flamenco. There were no teachers in Arkansas at the time, that I could find. I took about 10 lessons which got me started and soaked up as much as I could. I became obsessed and eventually developed tendinitis which forced me to stop for most of the last 15 years. I actually was looking for a way to play an instrument that could emulate flamenco singing and was easier on the hands when I found steel guitar. However, flamenco singing is very difficult to emulate and my ear has just never been good enough.

What book are you reading?

Usually at this time of year I would be getting my sailboat ready to be launched by May 1st. Since the marinas are temporally shut down that has been put on hold. A friend suggested that I try to create a song in my downtime and this is what I came up with.

It's a novel by Spanish writer Ildefonso Falcones "The Hand Of Fatima". Of course I am reading the german translation.

Well, we sold a house and bought a house.
Packed up and moved 1800 miles through 6 states and an ice storm.
Woke up first day to 6" of snow.
Now it's raining and we have thunder.
Still unpacking.
Yeah.......I'm bored.

Teaching Skype and FaceTime music lessons rather than in person. As for lap steel, I'm trying to learn the heads on Straight, No Chaser and Freedom Jazz Dance in 8-string A13 tuning. That second has me tied up in knots.
