Hi everybody,

Like me, I suspect players might be looking for something to do in these down times..I hope everyone is safely tucked away waiting for the phone to ring again. I thought I would do my part in providing some fun with a free course taken from a section in the PFM called "Backing A Singer"..This is from a session I did recently and it comes with several versions of the sessions rhythm tracks ..Just sign in to get started and it's yours.

Please Take Care!

Thank you, Paul. I’m set to record some PSG for a friend. I’m a beginner- been playing for 6 or 7 years. I will strive to pad under the vocals and keep it very simple. If I get a chance to solo, who knows? Better get the melody under my fingers.

Immaculate playing and a valuable lesson pertaining to emotion. The vocalist is also exceptional , I probably should know who it is!

A workaround if you don't have the 2nd string raise:

For that opening A chord lick featuring unisons with one of the notes then descending, pick string 4 at fret 6 with Es lowered, then hit string 2 right there for the unison. Let the notes ring.

Next, slide down to fret 5, releasing your Es lower lever. Rest of the licks are played as Paul demonstrates.

This will work for the lick at fret 10 as well.

Besides the nice moves Paul shows, pay special attention to his beautiful bar-rolling vibrato, that's my personal homework, have always wiggled the bar most of the time, but Paul's touch and tone is to die for, naturally!

Generous offer, Paul, thanks for helping folks productively kill time! I'm now offering current students a sliding scale if their employment income has been hit by the shelter-in-place pandemic mandates.

Hey everyone, don't forget to look at the tab...The alternate ways to play those 2nd string raised licks were tabbed out so nobody in cyber world would be left out! Enjoy!

Hope everyone is staying tucked away safely as we weather the storm.

Paul, didn't realize that alt way to get that unison going into counterpoint was tucked away in your tab, most excellent!

Thank you, Paul. I'm trying to do something productive every day through this mess. Although my family may dispute the productiveness of me practicing, generosity like yours and Jim Cohen's free backing tracks are much appreciated.
