there was a thread a while back of buddy playing without pedals when he broke his foot. he had his steel on his lap while setting on the bed. it was recorded 9/30 63. it's here:

| Buddy plays some non-pedal--maybe just a tune or two--on one of his Step One albums with Ray Pennington. The LP jacket has a photo of Buddy with a Fender Custom. |

Buddy's Boogie is mostly non-pedal but he does use pedals in several places to get the 4 and the 5 chord. Hard to discover because he isn't using the pedals to get the Isaacs' Sound. More Joaquin-esque.
This factoid came from the man himself, who was amused when I told him the descending melody riff on the A was impossible to play without changing necks  . He laughed and told me that he did some pedal work on that tune but not to tell anyone.

This is a good one, great solo and backing. I think he had one or two pedals on his C6 neck, but he's definitely not using them for the solo. For chords, not sure. I think this counts though!

He played dobro on some John Hartford records in the 70s. A tuning I believe.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but listening to Buddy play "non pedal" made we wonder if he and Jerry Byrd ever teamed up in the early St Louis show days, either on the stage or in a jam room. Perhaps some of those who attended those early shows could chime in one way or the other...that would have been fun to see and listen to if they ever did it.
