I just purchased a Double 8 Stringmaster and was wondering what Amp to pair it up with ? I will only be using it at home so I am looking at something small and portable but looking to get the best sound out of the Guitar. I have a Micro Cube and it sounds great on my lap Steels but I haven't tried it through the Stringmaster yet as the Guitar is still in transit. I also like the option of the Battery Back up on the Micro Cube.

The Stringmaster is just a fancy lap steel, so if your lap steels sound good to you through your Cube, the Stringmaster should as well. I use my 5e3 clone at home as that's my electric guitar amp, but on the gig I prefer a ZT Lunchbox for its master volume and more constrained tonal spread.
Don't forget to fiddle with the blend pots on both the necks!

The Fender Twin Reverb was made for Fender Stringmasters!
BTW: The early Stringmasters didn't have a blend wheel.

| For home use I'd go with a Princeton Reverb. Not sure why a battery pack is needed for home use only. |

Since I have both, it's been my experience that the Mobile Cube is capable of a cleaner sound then the Micro Cube can deliver:

Thanks Erv, I do have a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Tube Amp that that I will use in my Music room and it should sound pretty good through that.
Tim, Battery back up is always nice to have for a few reasons, One less extension cord to run, availability to take it just about anywhere and of course power outages, etc.

Sure it is  No pedals, just legs and multiple necks. It's a fancy lap steel, i.e. an electric guitar you lay flat and play with a bar.

| Erv, hate to argue with someone of your superior knowledge but the long scale stringmasters do have a blend control. It is a global blend that replaces the tone knob. If you turn the knob and tap the pickups you can hear it clearly. It goes from full on one pickup and zero on the other and the knob slowly adds the second pickup to the mix |

| I THINK what Erv means is that the blend wheel found under the later style bridge cover is not present on these guitars, and that is accurate. What looks like your tone control is in fact a blend pot on the earliest models. It doesn't really function the same as a normal tone and is pretty useless for boo-wah effects and such. |
