I'm looking at an older gold faced Stereo Steel amp. I understand they are no longer made so I'm a little concerned about getting the unit serviced when the need arises. Is this something to be concerned about or can an average amp tech service these? Also want to make sure you can run them with just one speaker?

Yes, one speaker is fine. See this thread: https://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=351795&highlight=stereo+steel

These amps were built by Gerry, G.D. Walker out of San Diego. It's my understanding that they are recently out of production, but that GD is still about to answer questions. Great guy, great amp.

GD IS semi retired but he said he would repair his amps as long as he is still alive. It is a copy of a 70's Peavey Session 400, so anyone that can work on them can work on the Stereo Steel. I have one and I am not concerned. He is not building the combo's anymore.
