Can anybody I.D. the guitar player: far right with Gibson J-200. From left it is: Joe Talbot, Hank Snow, Steve Sholes, Tommy Vaden, ??? guitar player. Possible names from RCA sessions with Joe and Tommy are: Jack Shook (who played left handed), Sherman Collins, Danny Perri, Al Chernet.

Might be Clyde Criswell. There's a page that lists a lot of Hank's musicians over the years.

Here's a pic of Jack Shook, maybe the best rhythm guitar player in town for a long time. Probably not the guy in your pic?

Your guy looks vaguely like Chris Criswell, but Criswell was a Drifting Cowboy and I don't know if he also played for Hank Snow. I know Criswell played steel, but he may have doubled on standard guitar.

I thought it might be Jimmy Widener, but don't think so.

I have no idea what Perri, Collins, or Chernet look like.

Thanks Charlie and thanks for the link to the Drifting Cowboys website. Great! Thanks again Mitch. Both Al Chernet and Danni Perri were both on RCA NYC sessions. Chernet was a NYC session player. The session Perri was on was Hawaiian based themes and Perri sounds like a Hawaiian name. In the photo they are not standing in the RCA NYC studio. I don't think it's Criswell as he doesn't show up on any Hank Snow sessions. A researcher here says its definently not Jack Shook. That leaves Sherman Collins or somebody else who might just dropped in and posed for the photograph. So - still unsolved? Thanks again guys for weighing in.

Here are a couple of more shots of Sherman "Sugarfoot" Collins..... looks the same to me. In Hanks Snow's bio, Collins is the only person included in a list of previous band members that's also included in your list.

Thanks Jerry! That's a match: Sherwood "Sugarfoot" Collins. Thanks again to Charlie and Mitch for weighing in. It takes a village. The Steel Guitar Forum in actions. Thanks guys.

The photo was taken October 8th or 9th 1951 at Brown Radio Productions one block from Printer's Alley downtown Nashville. The building is still there.
