...or...? Anybody know for sure? I know Sonny played on a lot of Jones' Musicor sessions. The song is "Playing Possum."

It has a kind of Hal Rugg vibe, but a little different to my ears. Fantastic playing, and I'll bet Buddy Cage might have learned a little from this track. 
Bear Family personnel listings are usually pretty complete, but they only list Bob Moore on bass with "other details unknown." Same in the Praguefrank discography. Here's another track from the same November 25th, 1969 session:

Interesting: where Buddy Cage developed his style. Part Tom Brumley part, Nashville i.e. Hal Rugg??? Cage really makes his notes pop.
re: "Playing Possum - could it be Weldon? Here is the entire session. On “You Can Always Come Back†sounds like Weldon on the ’74-’76 Moe Bandy stuff and he’s listed along with Sonny Curtis two month later on two January 1970 sessions. Sonny seems to have a darker tone even on the Emmons guitar which they both would have been playing by 1969. Here is Sonny 1965 on an Emmons. Then there's always his often imitated, never duplicated part on Paycheck's A-11 also 1965.

Buddy Cage's hero was Buddy Charleton...
Yes,Weldon on the two previously mentioned sides...
Lloyd appears on some GJ sides around that time as well.

Thanks, Steve. I kinda thought you might be the one that would know!
I knew Buddy Cage was into Charleton. But you must admit the second turnaround especially on "Playing Possum" sounds like a template for the classic Buddy Cage style of the 70s...

Sonny told me that jones quit using the jones boys on sessions sometime around 69, at one point firing the whole band and re-hiring sonny a couple of weeks later. Possum sounds a lot like Lloyd to me. I’m probably wrong. Good steel break though
