Japanese Guitarist Ichika - "Ethereal Tuning"

Nothing to do with steel guitar but I thought some of our 6 string players might be interested in this. Japanese guitarist Ichika has his guitar tuned to a Dmaj7 chord here (low to high) 1 - 5 - 7 - 3 - 7 - 1 and gets some very cool sounds out of what he calls "ethereal tuning". Lots of tapping going on too.

Thanks for posting. Usually I take a comment about a solo guitarist tapping as a warning, because it usually ends up being a drum solo on a guitar. This youngster has a refreshing sense of melody and harmony to go along with his technique. It ainâ€™t just the tuning...

Iâ€™ll just add that this kind of playing is so far out of my reach it makes me want to go windmill a few rounds of Wonâ€™t Get Fooled Again.
