I’ll be in Nashville from Nov 6 - 12. I’d like to hear as much live music as I can fit in. Especially the lap steel. Anyone know of any players to look out for? Or regular shows?

I’d also like to take a couple lessons. Any advice on teachers?

I mainly play C6, but also some E13.

Thanks!

Your dates overlap Rob Icke’s Resosummit at Scarret-Bennet: best dobro players in the world will be there. The registration is sold out, but you should keep an ear to the ground (and wander over there). Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley will no doubt play to a private party audience at the Station Inn. If I were you, I’d loiter around there and see if you could get in.

Or maybe you’re already enrolled?

While it's not lap steel, The Nashville Palace usually had some great pedal steel going on in The Front Room Stage (no cover, great burgers). Lots of great Old School country music going down there.

It's a totally different (e.g. vastly better) vibe than the Hell on earth vibe that is going down on Lower Broadway in downtown Nashville.

You are in for a treat, my friend. Tickets are available for the Time Jumpers while you're in town. They are a bunch of first-call Nashville session cats that play western swing for fun at 3d and Lindlsey on Monday nights.

On Tuesday nights at the American Legion Post 82 in Nashville. Chris Scruggs often plays w/ Pete Finney on his Fender Stringmaster, killing it.

Thanks for the tips! Any others?

I manage to sign up for a few dobro workshops at the Reso Summit!
