I recently purchased a carcass to rescue and would like to obtain a tracing of the outline of the Plexiglas pickup cover/control plate for a BR-9 (Gibson called it a "fingerrest"). Just need the outline to fabricate a new control plate from pickguard material. Don't necessarily need the entire fingerrest itself, but would purchase one for a reasonable price. Need not be in mint condition, because it's use will for tracing a pattern only.

Here's a photo of a fingerrest from a BR-9. Anyone have an extra, or one that's unattached to trace for a template?

Decided to fabricate a custom mounting plate from scratch. Not trying to restore the Sistine Chapel or anything, just wanna rescue an old Gibson carcass and bring it back to playable condition.

It's a bad habit I can't seem to break -- purchasing a carcass for a hundred bucks or so, putting a couple more hundred into it, and selling the finished product for... about hundred bucks.

My motto: Buy high -- sell low.

Don't feel bad. I have around 6 or 7 lap steels laying around here
that I pulled out of the proverbial junkyard and fixed up and got playing again.
It's a hobby I really enjoy and it's relaxing for me.
My big problem is I can't force myself to sell them so I have all these old weird guitars laying around and I can't play them all at once.
I tried once......ended up pulling a muscle...... Razz

Truth be told, I can't force myself to sell many of mine, either. And I also enjoy bringing 'em back to life. Now if I could only find a cannibalized Les Paul Junior for the price of a cannibalized BR-9...
