Good luck with selling this. If I could come up with the money, I would be on the road to Georgia.

Don’t let the 25.5” scale keep you from owning a really sweet sounding and playing guitar. LM English and I have both been playing her for the last 3 or 4 months on jobs with the same 3rd string. I gig every Friday and most Saturdays. Also, LM has used this guitar for studio work and says she records beautifully. I think she must be female because she really made me “sweat & fret” until we (LM actually) figured out the correct string gauge and procedure for putting it on.
You make sure your not pulling past A. Also put string on, tune to F#, stretch string with hand a little up and down the neck while slowing pumping B pedal. Tune to open G doing the same thing. Then tune open to G#, then with tuner make sure you are not pulling past the A note with the B pedal. Of course this I about a 15 minute deal. LM replaced the 3rd about 3 or 4 months ago and we have both gigged it until I was practicing at home last Tuesday. It started buzzing and shortly broke at the changer. I changed the string as per my instructions and played at home until last nights gig. I am now confident that’s how you have to do it. If I can do it one handed, MOST anyone can do it. It’s just the nature of the beast. Once you tame it (Her?) the rewards in tone and playability are worth it. Also, of course, it is not for everyone. And, I apologize for the long post. Thanks, Bill. PS - I forgot the most important part. You must use a Reinforced 12 gauge string. We have been using Ernie Ball, bought from Amazon.

WMIII,
If this method proves to work over and over for that pesky 3rd string, you should contact b0b to make a Permanant Post on this subject......You have no idea how many people this will help, especially if it works for every string manufacturer..😀....Thanks for posting this method.....Sincerely, Jim

What is the string gauge used ?

Keyless excel is my favorite tone, playability, light weight, easy setup. Never had issue w string breakages is that unique to the long scale or something?

Keith,
The longer scale on any instrument equates to more tension on the strings....With the longer scale of the excel, the strings are stretched to the max....any little bit over ,or any badly wound string, and they snap......This happens to a lot of folks who own Excel long scale steels on the 3rd string....Jim

I have been playing this guitar for about 2 months on weekend gigs and I have not had one bit of trouble with anything. It has a great tone and sustain and plays like a dream.

Regarding string breakage- this might be embarassing for me, but:
I got my new excel superb d10 20 months ago, and i am still using ALL the strings that shipped with the guitar. I have had to retune it once or twice in that time. Our living room piano needs tuning more often.
