Topic: E Lower intermittently not lowering |

I was playing my Stage One at band practice last night and a few times, I went to play a B+E 7th chord, and the E didn't lower. The lever felt the same, but the pitch didn't change. A moment later (possibly after bumping the opposite lever (E>F)), it was working again.
I feel like this has happened to me once or twice before, but it was brief enough that I assumed user error.
What's going on here? Is it a lubrication issue? I'm pretty mechanically dumb about PSG and haven't had to do any work on mine since I got it <2 years ago. |

Something is probably binding.
Check that there is slack between the nylon tuning nut and the finger, and also check that there is slack on any other pulls that might be on the same finger.
Also check that the rods move freely, that the bellcranks are not rubbing on anything, and that the nylon tuning nuts don't rub against other nylon nuts at the changer.
The fact that it came back after using another lever makes me thing that something is binding.
Turn that baby over, and actuate things by and, and I bet you'll see where the problem is. |
