Hello Jimmy, Gene, and all ShoBud fans like me.

This is just a shot in the dark but you don't know if you don't ask!
I bought a brand new Sho Bud II dark burl? color around '75-'77 that was ordered for me from Picker's Supply in Fredericksburg, Va.
I don't have the serial number, but I'm sure it was the only one sent there from the factory. Any info would be greatly appreciated, as I have been looking for it to possibly try and buy it back. Had to sell it to make my house pmt. back then. I do know it was sold to the new owner from Billy Cooper's in Orange, Va. somewher around '78-83 or so.
Thanks for any and all information!
Pat

Randy, Build date would real close to 11/1/78.
Can you give me color, builders name (cream color lickum stickum tag underneath if it's still there), number of pedals & knees, who you got it from, and anything else about it. I keep a spreadsheet with all of this info collected from this thread and a few other places.

Thx
Michael

Super Pro serial number 17165. Looks like manufacture date was Oct 1981. If you have time can you offer any detail on this guitar?

Thanks

Hi, My name is Ken Brooks. I'm new to the forum. I was recently gifted a pedal steel and told it had been hand made by someone who traded it for auto repair work. When it arrived, it looked exactly like a Sho Bud to me with the raised markers on the fretboard. I have looked for any serial numbers but can't find them anywhere or I don't know where to look. Some of the levers don't work and although I repair a lot of instruments, looking underneath this guitar just baffles me. I do think one lever is missing a nut. If there is anyone in the Spring Hill FL area who knows how to work these or how they work, I would like to get it in shape so I can confuse myself more while learning Wink

Ken - you might want to post in the "pedal steel" section of the forum - create a new post, title it "Sho-Bud Help In FL Needed" or something like that. This thread deals with S-B serial numbers, and so your post may be overlooked. BTW, if you take lots of pictures of the guitar - top and underside, and post them, we could possibly help you get it up and working yourself.

I am a first time poster so here we go. I have a deep desire to learn to play a steel guitar so I went out and bought a couple of steels. The first is a Sho bud " The Professional III " Custom .I'd like a little info on it if I may. Serial number is 9572.

Jim, yours was built 9/22/1975 and Shipped 9/26/75 to Gretsch in Cincinnati. Assembled by Duane Marrs.

Bill, I don't have any other data on yours but entered it into the spreadsheet. Looks to be a build date approx. 9/6/78.

Bruce, no info on yours. Perhaps Gene will chime in and supply it. I've log it into the spreadsheet. Roughly 10/1/81.

Ken, send me some pictures of front, top, and underside and perhaps I can identify it.

I have a ShoBud 6153 serial #2827 D10 that is green. From the chart I think it is a 1972. I am trying to find all the information I can on it. I have looked a lot of pictures that I can find and all the green color ones I find are the LDG model was D10 in green not so common. I am new here after 40 year absence from the steel and 71 years old so I may ask some dumb questions, I got a lot of catching up to do.

At different times, I owned two '73 Pro-II guitars that were two serial numbers apart – 5906 and 5908. Great guitars. Brass barrels with 2-hole pullers, round front, diamond inlays and monkey-💩 brown color. One went to upstate New York and I can't remember where the other one went – I want to say Virginia. Maybe.
