My son, Buddy has gone now.
He was just here in Saigon for a two week visit with my 8 year old grandson and left Thursday to go back to Oregon.
He was feeling so happy and positive about the future and then this morning, just 48 hours later I got the news he is gone at age 34.
This is the saddest time in my life. We never expect our children to die before us.
Hope there really is a hereafter? Will miss his huge smile and good humor.
Just can't stop the tears when I think of him.
The picture was taken just a week ago.

Andy,
Kathy and I are so sorry to hear about your son, Buddy's passing. We met Buddy when Kathy and I bought inlays from him. He was such a great kid. We can't even imagine the pain you are going through right now. If there is anything we can do to help or support you and your family please let us know. Thank you to all for the kind thoughts.
I'll be flying back to Oregon this afternoon.
Not quite sure what then?
His other brothers and sister are also coming from Minnesota, California, Colorado and Texas.
We will have a family get together and decide.

His mother in Oregon want's to bring him back to Viet Nam to be buried next to his grandparents.
He had gone to visit their family grave site in the Mekong Delta last week.
When he found it dirty he spent some hours cleaning it up for them.
Maybe that is a suitable place. His mother also wants to be buried there when her time comes.
It's the only photo from dozens of his time here where he was not smiling.

We named him after the big E, Seems not so long ago.... I just feel kind of numb now.

Thanks to all of you.
I have to start packing a bag. My flight back to Oregon is in just a few hours.
When the whole family is together again we will decide what to do.
Not the kind of thing we plan for.
God bless you all,
Andy
