I'm a long-time fan of the sound of the nylon string Del Vecchio resophonic standard guitars. Jose' Eduardo posted this pic of his Brazilian-made Del Vecchio lap steel. Note the unusual placement of the control knobs.

I originally thought the same thing, but had to look closer at the strings. They appear to be heavier on the knob side.
