Many musicians search for "the perfect tone".

Blue Cat released a computer plugin called Re-Guitar that makes your guitar sound like it has different pickups. Cut and paste this URL into your browser to read a review: https://audiogeek11.com/daw-plugin-review-blue-cat-re-guitar/

This looks and sounds very interesting. One could save a lot of time trying to zero in EQ and amp modeling by just addressing the tone at the pick-ups.

However, given that PSG pick ups run a whole lot hotter than 6 string pick-ups (say, 19k versus 6k, I am wondering how the plug in handles the PSG pick-up input.

Have you tried this with a PSG pick up yet?

Hi Dan,

I haven't tried the plugin. However you should be able to ask the developer through their support e-mail of "support[at]bluecataudio.com" or their forum https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=52

I posted links about it because I believe some steel players might be interested to learn more about it. I know a few steel players and they are always hunting for ways to create new tone palettes.

Since I don't play steel I have a different way to explore tone. I have a Line 6 Variax modeling electric guitar I use to experiment with tone. The guitar models 20+ electric and acoustic guitars plus electric sitar and banjo. Computer software lets you customize models by body style, pickup placement, pickup type and string tuning.

Dan,

That was a great question you asked. I posted the question in the Blue Cat Audio forum. The question is available here: https://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7539286#p7539286[/url]
