There is a young singer songwriter, Ashly Sofia, in Nashville (moved here from the Adirondacks) who asked me to play mando on one of the tracks on her upcoming album. The tune I played on, ADIRONDACK DREAMS, was featured today on The Bluegrass Situation.
I really respect the young lady as her roots are Paul Simon, Emmylou Harris, Jim Croce, John Denver, etc. Her album is fantastic. This is the only bluegrass flavored tune on it. I'm glad I got to play on it.
While my part is mostly rhythm, there is one mando fill around 0:45 in the song. After hearing the lyrics to the song, you'll see how it fits (I actually quoted the opening guitar lick to John Denver's Country Roads). We were originally going for an intricate/melodic fill there, but settled on this nod to John Denver, and though very simple, I like it.
You can hear the tune by clicking on the play button in the embedded ADIRONDACK DREAMS graphic in the Bluegrass Situation web page below...

Dave

That's a pretty good song.
She's got eleven tracks on her SoundCloud page. I auditioned some of them and she keeps a consistent sound.
If she wrote or was a co-writer all the songs then she has great promise as a songwriter. _________________ Remembering Harold Fogle (1945-1999) Pedal Steel Player
