Just got through with a busy day of guitar and fiddle building.
Now is my turn to get back to that downloaded podcast.

But before that I need to work out some measurements for aluminum I need to buy tomorrow.
Also got to remember to kiss my sweetheart so she don't get upset before I start to listen to it. Laughing Embarassed
That Mooney one looks real interesting as soon as I finish the Buck Owens one. Rolling Eyes Very Happy

As far as I can see there are not too many steelers who can match his style.
I feel lucky when I just get a close copy and that don't happen often.
Example, Try doing Mooney's parts in "Hello Trouble" with Buck Owens! Whoa!
I just don't even try it... Embarassed Laughing

Tommy Spurlock comes very close on this Rodney Crowell cover.
There only this but I think you can hear enough:

Think that's Tom Brumley playing steel on "Hello Trouble " . For me , the best fully realized Buck Owen's is the band with Brumley . Especially when Tom was playing his Fender. Not to take anything away from Mooney , who was undoubtedly brilliant.

If that is Tom Brumley playing steel on "Hello Trouble " I'd be very surprised.
On the other hand, many of the pros can imitate each other quite well?
Also Tom Brumley was no minor player.
If someone knows the answer I'd sure be interested. Very Happy

Well Jay Dee played on Desert Roses's version of Hello Trouble , Buck's version was recorded in 1964 a few years before Jay Dee played with Buck.

Did Jay Dee follow Mooney in Buck Owens band or was there other between them?
Also what year did Tom Brumly start with the Buckaroos?

I just listened to another of those pod casts this morning. They are really interesting though the fellow has a strange voice! Whoa! Laughing
Will get back to it asap, but got a lot to get done this week before I go back home to Saigon. Very Happy
