Confused I don't know where else to ask this question, Does anyone know what's going on with The Emmons Guitar Company? I have been trying to order two PULL rods for the pedal two, 3rd and 6th strings G# to A raise on my 92 Emmons Le Grande D 10. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sad

I'm pretty sure it no longer exists.

Try Billy Knowles or Jerry Roller - they're both very knowledgeable and, I believe, carry Emmons parts. There may be others, too; perhaps they'll respond here.

Bill, I think Emmons has closed up. Get in touch with Lynn Stafford or Billy Knowles. They may be able to help you out out.

Jim Palenscar can probably make any parts you might need.

Emmons Guitar Co in Burlington NC is no longer a business with a store front. Its been said that some of the experienced repair guys, Knowles, Stafford etc can still get some Emmons parts .

Go to them , Lynn Stafford, Billy Knowles , Jim Palenscar.

Why is Mike Cass not being mentioned? I've heard he was a source for Emmons parts.

Is he no longer doing repair/restoration work on Emmons Guitars?

Thanks all, I have contacted Larry Behm, who gave me Lynn Stafford's number, spoke with Lynn, very easy to talk to, who referred me to Billy Knowles, who I can't seen to find time to call, he is on the east coast. I will try Jim Palinscar Mike Cass or who ever else, until I get the parts. Thank you all.

Jerry Roller made two LeGrande rods for me just 2 or 3 weeks ago. They looked perfect to me. One thing to watch for. The LeGrand I’m working on has mostly machined aluminum bellcranks. There are however a few thin stamped steel bellcranks on it. I don’t think the pullrods made for the stamped steel ones will reach thru the thicker aluminum ones enough to key. I was able to keep the parts paired on this guitar.

Oops, I blew that one. I see where it was pedal rods not pull rods. Oh well, maybe somebody can use the pull rod info.

I’ve made them myself using welding rod from one of our local steel fabricators. They were dirt cheap.

After cutting them to length, hand thread one end with a dye and scribe the other end with a pipe cutter for the “e-clip”. Lastly, bend the rod end 90 degrees via vice or a block with a hole.

“Measure twice, cut once”

Just a note to Tony's method:

If you don't have a pipe cutter to score the rod for the e-clip, you can use the thread-die to score the rod...just a few revolutions should be enough. Do this before you bend the right-angle.

Very Happy I talked today with Jim Palenscar, sent him my measurements, 27 1/4" and he is working on them. Thanks again.

Just as info,

I can guarantee that Mike Cass is definitely still doing work on all brands and types of steels. He just finished a total rebuild of an Emmons for me. First rate work.
