Clearly a magnificent instrument, and an interesting copedent too. b0b is a proponent of the D uni tuning but this is the first 12-string version I've seen. I'm too firmly committed to B6 to change now, but I hope someone picks it up and runs with it.

Johnny, I'm a horrible player! I'm having a hard time thinking in E9 as it is and unfortunately I'm reliant on materials to study. Once I get one tuning down solid I'll consider something else.
I could keep it in the closet until that time but it's a waste of a fantastic guitar that deserves to be played. |

I'm looking forward to seeing your new steel! These new MSA's are the best steel I've played to date. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Thanks, Aaron, I didn't clock that first time round.
Having two tunings based on the same root is logical even if it becomes hard to achieve a traditional voicing. D is an obvious compromise between E and C. Buddy Emmons thought of the C tuning as E down a third rather than B up a semitone, although he doesn't seem to have pursued universal tunings very far.
At one time I considered an E9/A6 setup but the voicing would have been way out from what the listener would expect.

John, this is what Junior wrote me:
"It is a fine guitar. I hated to get rid of it. I just couldn’t play the tuning (Bb universal) the way I used to when I was younger. Getting old I guess! Lol
The pickup is a LXR 16. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!"
Ian, I think it's a brilliant tuning and I really like the tone of the larger strings when playing up the fret board. Someday I may consider D9 vs. E9.
I would be happy to mail it back to MSA to change out the copedant. I could even drive it down to Jim (he's 5 hours away) and that would save one leg of the shipping. |

I hope that whoever buys this keeps the D13th copedent on it. Johnny Cox's big idea is brilliant - it does everything - and the guitar itself is a masterpiece. If I had the money, this would be my "last guitar".

| This is a great deal with Mr. Cox's D13 tuning already on it and an inspection from Jim Palenscar. I might add that Jim Palenscar is a great guy to deal with. It might take a long time to learn the D13th tuning but if you are young it will be worth it. |
