If you buy the Stainless, you will probably not be able to tell the difference.
If you buy the Nickle Live Steel Strings, they might be a little warmer, but nothing noticable.
I never found strings to make much difference in my tone. There are too many other factors.
And when you ask a question like this, you will get answers from many with different opinions, because we all hear differently. _________________ AUTHORIZED George L's, Goodrich, Telonics and Peavey Dealer: I have 2 steels and several amps. Let me know when you are ready for more.
I have moved to FL but still handle all my steel guitar products. _________________ AUTHORIZED George L's, Goodrich, Telonics and Peavey Dealer: I have 2 steels and several amps. Yes, you need to start using nickle strings, they definitely sound warmer.
I don't know what kind of bar you are using but a chrome bar will also warm up your sound.
