Just tossing in my two cents on the Renown. It's the "only one amp to the gig" answer, having two distinct channels. That's what the footswitch does, goes from the A to the B channel for those who play steel on some songs and Tele on others. So you can get your steel settings and then switch to your guitar settings with just a stomp of the boot. Mine has the single 15 and I've never heard the 2x12 but it must also be a great sound.

And the way Peavey decided to tweak the settings on this is a bit complicated. I think some got turned off to this particular amp because it isn't like so many others and so it takes some tweaking to get the right sound. Plenty of power, nice cleans and the ability to add some dirt without taking your pedal rack along. Stages are pretty crowded, these days. (If there's a stage at all.) Here's how Peavey "explained" their set-up on the Renown:

This is what I call a Nashville Session. It has that Nashville 400 / Session 500 vibe to it and with the 2 12" speakers, it really just opens every chord and note up just a little sweeter.

MHO
