Yeah... the subject line probably looks weird to a non-steel player.

Dating? A professional? Dual (what--two of them)? Laughing

Nope. Just wondering which tuner pan the date is likely to be under--inside or outside?

I'm loathe to take off all 16 strings...

Hey Mark! Definitely the pan farthest from you (the higher neck) is more likely to have the date written, although mine had it written in both, and scotch tape under the pups. Also, you don’t need have to take the strings all the way off, just loosen till you can pull an inch or two of string off the fretboard, that should be enough. Hope that helps!
