On Wednesday, July 24,I will be returning to MiMoDa studio on L.A, for another concert. The weekly Music at MiMoDa is a classical music venue that caters to the Mozart/Beethoven community. This will be my 8th concert there. Prior to the first one, mot of the regular attendees had never seen or heard a steel before. (Sometimes I'm asked if I invented it.)
On this occasion I will be joined by pianists Christian DuBeau and Christine Lee, who will each accompany me on one selection.
Here is the program.
1 (Jim Webb) MacArthur Park Park
2 (Claude Debussy) Le Petit Negre
3 (Claude Debussy) Claire du Lune with Christian Dubeau, piano
4 (Francisco Tarrega) Theme from Recuerdos De La Alhambra
5 (George Gershwin) Prelude #2
6 (Claude Debussy) Reverie
8 (Gabriel Fauré) Pavane
9 (Camille Sale-Seans) The Swan from Carnival of the Animals
10 (Jeremy Gillian) Valentine
11 (Anton Dvorak) Largo from Symphony #9 (A KA the New World Symphony) with Christine Lee, piano
12 (Leonard Bernstein) West Side Story medley. (I Feel Pretty, Maria, America)
I hope those of you within driving distance will come and hear how the steel can be used in this kind of music.
