Yeah Joachim them were some heavy weight hits for TJ back in those days, and still are!

I worked with TJ, but never got to see him perform. Hours before his show was to go on, he left to be at his wife's side, who was hospitalized.

The entire concert was cancelled and lots of people, some who traveled from the out-lying provinces, were disappointed.

Suffice to say there was "a kind of hush" at the venue as months of preparation was unceremoniously preempted.

Les Reed was TJ's rocket fuel no doubt! Have to give props to the man who wrote the songs and did the musical arrangements.

Godspeed Les!!!

Les Reed

That's a sad and at the same time interesting story that you tell here, Godfrey.
I have the first Fortunes album from '65 or '66. It includes three of his songs co-written with Barry Mason and I especially like This Golden Ring.

Are you referring to the band who had the song "You've Got Your Troubles?"

The first picture is an album 12 inch (the lower part is missing.
The second pic is indeed a 45. Decca had this "Discotheque" cover for many of their releases f.i. Sones and the Who.

Godfrey, since you responded on this, I want to say this kind of music was revived in the last year by two great singers:

Mark Allmond

Morrissey

The first vid is gone Joachim.

Morrisey...

His cover album was banned in UK for his liaison with For Britain Movement. California Son.

So I guess he had to do something "harmless."

His cover of Wedding Bell Blues features Billy Joe Armstrong of Green Day.
