Years ago I acquired one of these Fane speakers with a host of Evans amp equipment. It was an option offered by Evans for a short time in their amps and I was really impressed with the tone at the time. However, I didn’t find a great deal of info regarding them at the time and unfortunately, I didn’t spend a great deal of time playing through that particular speaker selling soon after. That tone seem to stay in my mind since then and Leon Champion lister this one earlier this year. I stalled for quite some time and finally purchased it from Leon. My regret was waiting so long!

I replaced the original K-130 in an open back Webb cabinet and I’m totally impressed with the Fane! Much better than I’d recalled and it will become my preferred speaker. That’s a rather profound choice when comparing it to one of the holy grail of speakers but, to my ears at least, I much prefer the Fane.

My challenge? To find another Fane speaker! 🤔
Dave

Blimey, you take me back to my schooldays! They were made over the hill in Yorkshire, I think.

Hi David I now use a Hi-Watt T40 Tube Amp with 2* 12inch Fane Speakers for 6 String, Mando and occasionally PSG, and I love the sound.

I was into Fane speakers for a while. They can be great. The issue I ran into is that over the years they changed owners or manufacturing or something. I'm not sure of the details but in any case they did not seem to be consistent.
If you have a good one there is nothing better !

That was the one thing I was able to ascertain years ago...that it was a British made speaker, that it was obsolete, and that they were fairly costly around $300. I have no other experience with Fane speakers other than this particular model but suffice to say...I’m very pleased! I was a always a fan of JBL and at that particular time I was using Eclipse speakers in my amps. As time has passed and my hearing has deteriorated the eclipse became less appealing and JBL again became my preference. I’m glad I recalled the pleasing tone of the Fane and that Leon happened to have one available. It sounds better than I remembered.
Thanks for chiming in, guys!
Cheers!
