I wanted to post some pictures of this guitar I saw on ebay for posterity. We've seen plenty of art deco lap steels (after all, that was the era that the electric lap steel was developed in) but this is the first art Nouveau that I've seen. The seller is a talented guitar customizer that bought the unlabeled guitar at a pawn shop a number of years ago and decided to customize it years later. Can anyone identify the original maker from the shape? 22.5" scale. (edit) No affiliation with the seller but I just thought you might enjoy the pics.

| Agree that it's indeed a beauty. But the 20.5" scale is a deal breaker for me. Plus, $1150.00 is a lotta dough for basically a wall-hanger. |

As I was making the original post I got an email from the seller that he was mistaken, it is 22.5" scale. I'll correct my original post. I made an offer that was probably kind of lowball for all the work he put into it but quite a bit more than I've ever spent on a single neck lap steel. Haven't heard back yet. I would also rather have a solid bridge and slightly wider string and pickup pole spacing but those are things that could be addressed without disturbing the artistry.

Kind of unfortunate that the maker isn't even mentioned or credited, so much work went into that...
I agree, put a slightly different sort of bridge, and maybe a stacked HB pickup in there, and it'd be a decent player I bet, at 22.5" scale.

It's apparently not a custom scratch build but a customized vintage guitar. The artist is Michael Chapman. Anybody recognize what the original guitar may have been from the body shape? |

First time I ever saw a 6 string steel I'd love to own, but I just got my re-furbished Clinesmith today, so maxed out for a while....
All I can say is Stunning  Beautiful  and oh so Sexy!
