The knotty pine paneling completes the picture.... |

Good little dual 6v6 amp comparable in sound to Fender tweed deluxe. Sounds good with a lapsteel. |

...oh yeah, Joachim.
Jeff, this old 1482 has been through Ken Fox's shop. Has JJ 6v6s, GT pre's, R suffix and a temporary Boogie speaker to save the orig.
The old Dano style trem is fabulous. I like this amp a lot. I have used it for pedal steel, but mostly for six string, both lap steel and straight guitars with wang bars.
I have recently paired it with an 80s Electra analog Echo/Reverb rack.
I first became enchanted with guitar through the low, mean stuff of Duane Eddy and his ilk. Still my favorite guitar sound. I'm not very proficient at it, but it always puts a smile on my face when I try to play that stuff.
I just love the old greasy, grainy, gritty shimmer and wobble that I can get with the slapback, reverb and tremolo from this rig, alone or in combinations.
I also have a cheap old Harmony solid body that's a long scale strung to baritone B that I can play with this rig.
It all makes me happy anyway.
b0b, yes the prices are getting ridiculous for this old stuff. eBay & Reverb.com's listings are more than that.
OTOH, it seems that that kind of old vintage vibe is pretty popular right now.
I probably have more in this one than it's actually worth, but having it upgraded and checked out costs a few bucks too. |

Interesting looking green guitar - is that the Harmony or a Tele thing? |

...oh, sorry for the confusion. That's a Warmoth/Parts-caster sort of Cabronita style T w/Gretsch 'buckers from a forum member. I replaced and modified the bridge plate and added the Bigsby.
This is a shot of the yard sale Harmony bari with my added hiway hazard sign guard and my added aftermarket Teisco style vibrato tailpiece. I put 'em on everything that doesn't already have them.

Looks like the 66 Harmony rocket I had which got stolen, except that had a cutaway. A very playable and great sounding guitar. bolt-on neck was no issue. I think Harmony made the Silvertone guitars, didn't they? |

I believe those old archtops were made by Kay. Model N2 maybe? They were sold by several labels such as Silvertone, Sears, Truetone, Harmony, maybe Airline? They were basically the same with a little different treatment and label on the headstock.
When I first acquired that old Truetone, I thought the electronics had been added later, but since found out they were from the factory.
This one has a set neck but the action is way too high to fret. It could probably be set-up and adjusted, but for now I've got a raised nut on it and play with it in open D tuning.
Sorry to hear some scumbag lifted your Rocket. |
