First of all, let me confess that I'm flat out ignorant about recording and impatient - not a great combo, I concede. I'm trying to get a good clean recording in Garageband using a 1/4" to USB cord connection. The signal sounds distorted and flat out bad despite the myriad options in GB to alter the signal. Am I missing a key in gradient here - such as an outboard pre-amp or interface?

that doesn't seem right. I see no indication that there is any analog to digital conversion happening. No specs on the D/A listed at all.

The price also suggests that this isn't going to work out well for you.

Take a look at the Apogee Jam Plus Pro. That can interface with Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android or PC.

If you just need to interface with an Apple product, you can get the less expensive model.
