I’m playing through a Webb with a 4 ohm JBL K-130.
I’m thinking of adding an extension cabinet that has a 4 ohm JBL E-130 to the amp.
The Webb says it can handle down to 2 ohm load. Does said combination equate to 2 ohm load? What are the ramifications of this choice vs. (2) 8 ohm speakers instead?
What would you expect tone differences to be between (2) 4 ohm speakers and (2) 8 ohm speakers?

Yes, 4 ohms + 4 ohms in parallel = 2 ohms.
Regarding tone, the K-130 magnet is alnico and the E-130 is ceramic. Different sounds.

Regarding practical tonal differences between 4 and 8 ohm
Speakers that are identical in every other way, are there any?
Would one be smoother than the other?

It's to match the impedance of the amp's output circuitry. Go too low and the amp will work too hard and blow up. Too high and it can't push the speaker.
