I wanted to try my steel through a Peavey TNT 130 bass amp.
My cables went from guitar to strobo flip to Hilton volume pedal to DD3 to the amp high gain input. When I turn on my the amp I get a loud hum. I checked all cables and they were fine. When I remove the delay everything is good. I put the delay back in the circuit I plugged into the low gain input and everything is fine.
Is this normal ? The amp has no reverb so I really felt I needed the delay.
What will happen if I put another instrument into the high gain input ?
I have never run into this problem in all my years of playing. |

What happens when you plug the guitar into the other input?
Peavey jacks can and do give problems, and hum may have nothing to do with the pedal. |

Have you tried going guitar > DD-3 > amp just to check out the DD-3 by itself? As Bill pointed out, may be a dirty jack. Use a cleaner if you have lt, or at least plug and unplug your cord 15 or 20 times.

Bill, I can plug into either hi or Lo and there is no problem it is only when I put the delay in the circuit.
I also tried my spare delay and it also produces the same hum.
I found the same problem when I plug into my Cube 80 XL. Amp.
I can plug the same set up into my Evans SE 200 and it works fine. Same with my Session 500 amp. |

| Are you running the DD-3 with a power adapter? May be getting a 60 cycle ground loop. Try using a battery or running an extension cord from another circuit to the DD-3. Try a different power adapter if you have one. |

George.
I went guitar , to delay , to amp and it is good both high and low inputs.
It seems to be only when I put the Hilton pedal in the circuit with the delay that it hums, and then it is only in the high gain input.
I will try putting the delay ahead of the Hilton.
I just put the delay after the tuner, before the Hilton and the hum disappeared.
I always thought the delay should be after the volume pedal.
Any thoughts on this ? |

| Reverb is normally run after the volume pedal because you don't want to cut the tail off of the reverb with the volume pedal. I may be wrong, but I don't think delay needs to be after the volume pedal. Try it and if it sounds OK, go with it. I personally like to keep things as direct as possible and do not have my tuner in my signal path. I use the tuner out on my Black Box or the 2nd output on my volume pedal. At home,I just unplug my guitar and plug the tuner direct into the guitar with a short cord. |

Where do you have the black box in your circuit ?

| Guitar > Black Box > Lehlie 90 volume pedal > Wet Reverb pedal > DD-3 > Hum De-Bugger > amp. Strobo Flip tuner mounted to guitar leg with a cord connecting it to tuner out on the Black Box. I use the Black Box like a pedal board. Effects pedal attached to the top of it with 1-1/2" wide, industrial strength sticky back Velcro from Lowe's. |

| I can tell you that the older DD3 jacks do go bad. that sounds like your problem. |
