I have had my Williams U-12 for two years and have never had a problem with the guitar. For whatever reason after changing strings today the G# (6th string) B pedal
will only raise a quarter tone and then that same string with the 7th pedal will only raise a half step when it should a be a whole step. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what is the first thing I should be looking at in terms of troubleshooting?

As is often the case these things happen just before an important gig. Please help if you have a suggestion.

Thank you very much in advance,

Bradshaw

Did you switch from a plain to a wound string? That would do it.

Have you broke any strings in that area. Check to see if the brass ball off a string is in the changer. When the strings was remover, It may have allowed the string ball to move and catch in the changer. Check from the top and bottom.

Also check the pull rods under the steel, When the string tension was removed the rods may have came out of the bell crank.

Received a nice "thank you" email from the OP, Bradshaw Pack. Switching to a wound string was indeed the problem. A plain .020 fixed it.
