S/N 27 Cherry wood (it will get a bit more red with time) The weather here finally warmed up enough to get out to the shop. Now test fitting hardware and it will be ready for finish.

Enteresting shape Dom. Didn't you build others like that? Im working on one myself Ill have a large sound chamber under the neck which im hoping will help resonance, anyway I hope to see your finished steel when its done .

I sprayed 2 coats of Varathane Polyurathane semi-gloss then sanded with 600 grit and 2 more coats of Gloss sanded very lightly and a final 2 coats of Gloss.

It makes a very thick protective finish, resistant to scratches and moisture proof.

Dom, I had more orange peel with the polyurethane than with lacquer, and with polyurethane being harder, it was more work to sand it out. However, I never tried using semigloss first followed by gloss. Yours certainly does look nice. --Bob

Dominic that was very well done, great sound on the steel, nice voice also! Still hoping to learn to play as well as you, being able to sing at the same time....awesome!
