I don't know about PF but on E9 splitting 5th string to get C, 6th string to get G, some split 2nd string ti get D. On C6 3 to C#, and 4 to Bb with p7.

I agree with Dean, I read somewhere recently where Paul said he doesn't have any splits on his guitars - plenty of compensators though.

I agree as well. At Pauls seminar a few weeks back he stated
That he had no splits.

John quite a few on both necks ... he would be the man to supply the detail but I know he bumps 1 and 7 for starters !!
I had the opportunity for a close up of the changer end of that light blue lacquer Franklin of his at Dallas a couple of years back and it had a stack of extra rods right across the bottom of both changers - I'm sure Paul would tell us the detail :-}

Paul uses tuning compensators lowering the F# strings when the A pedal is pressed, and another lowering the str 7 F# when the B pedal is pressed.

He uses return compensators on every string that has both a raise and a lower. (Strings 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 for him)

I'm talking E9 only here, but his policy for return compensators is the same on C6 I think, but different strings, of course.
