New to pedal steel. Need to set up C6th neck. Guitar has 5 pedals and 2 knee levers on the C6 neck.
Is there a basic/universal set up/copedent to start with? |

Hi Kevin. By viewing the "LINKS" button in the upper right hand corner of this page, you can find several things including a list of popular copedents. I'm showing you a highlighted link in this post you can click on that will take you to there.
I would suggest with your complement of pedals/levers to consider the Emmons C6th arrangement. For a bit simpler one, try Jimmy Day's with only one lever. Day used a G on the first string, more common to the no pedal tunings where Emmons uses a D. Either one works.

some of us still prefer a G on top. I'd also consider a different change on pedal 4. I find raising the Es to F or a reverse of pedal 6 much more useful than raising the As to B. _________________ 1965 Emmons S-10, 3x5 • Emmons LLIII D-10, 10x12 • JCH D-10, 10x12 • Beard MA-8 • Oahu Tonemaster |

True. I mentioned the D on top because it goes well with the C to C# raise (which compensates for not having a G on top). Of course, there are many ways to skin the feline... _________________ www.JimCohen.com

Yeabut old school players grew up with the G on top. I think most players coming from no pedal guitars still use the G....but....either works. Just depends on your style. |
