Sad news, my buddy texted me a few hours ago about his passing.

Great collection of songs he played on, Thanks for the link Scott.

I have his autobiography he did years ago.

RIP Hal, you over achieved, and we appreciate it!

Godspeed Hal!

More than any drummer on the planet, we grew up with you on most every major 60's song hit and TV show themes.

If we reel in the years and note that your beats were responsible for almost every move we made as humans back then, it would be impossible to separate you from our lives.

I'm ready to go anywhere
I'm ready for to fade
Into my own parade
Cast your dancing spell my way
I promise to go under it

Young man rhythm's got a hold of me, too
I got the rockin' pneumonia and the boogie woogie flu

I like what someone on Facebook wrote earlier today:

“Of my Top 10 Drummers - six are Hal Blaine.” Cool

Sad, sad news.
My sincere condolences to the family.
There may never be another quite like Hal.
I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to work with him a few times.
Vaya con Dios, Hal...

There won't be another quite like Hal. Another irreplaceable member of the "Wrecking Crew" generation gone. It's sad, but what can we do? Time marches on.. Sad

Him and Joe Osborn were my favorite rhythm section. Nobody who played on those great Mamas and the Papas records is still alive, except Mama Michelle. Sad.

I met Hal in 1990 at a Beach Boys event in San Diego when I was 15. He was so nice to me, and I could have listened to his stories the rest of the day (and probably would have, but some guy named Brian Wilson showed up unannounced. Wink)
