Just a quick thumbs up for my new Michael Hillman coated tone bars
Wow and sweet!
I play weissenborns only (yeah I tried a slab lap steel but just didn’t do it for me)
I have been using grooved Stevens type bars for almost ten years. Recently started playing in C6 and decided I should try a bullet style bar again. Fredrick Kinbom reccomended Hillmans bars. After a back and forth, I obtained a couple. Wow. New sounds and tones and stuff happening all over the place.
I almost feel like a competent player (har har), and I hardly ever drop them.
Thanks!
Mark

Do you have the Baritone in a 6th tuning? If so, what tuning and what guages? I am experimenting with a baritone tricone and would like to get it into a 6th tuning with some heavier stings. Do you have any sound bites of your baritone?

I have the baritone in open C. Standard scale Pogreba in C6. I munged the string set for C6 with ones I had laying around - something like 40/36/30/26/19/16. Mostly concerned with the low end gauges. C6 is a revelation for me. Finally got a chance to use the Hillman bar on my C and open D weisses. Sound great. Lots of posts about C6 string gauges. Would be curious bout resonator in C6. Many Weiss players think C6 doesn’t drive the top enough. I think it sounds sweet
