Anyone in steel land know who played the steel on Hank Williams' song,"I'm a Long Gone Daddy"? It sure sounds like Jerry Byrd. Where's Ray when you need him?

You might enjoy the Hank III version of that song on the album Timeless: A Hank Williams Tribute. The steel guitar on it is mighty fine, reminiscent of the original.
Actually, there are several good steel tracks on the album, all by different artists and different bands.
