So once again (and probably for the last time) I have reduced the value of some Stringmaster bits by making them into an instrument.
It all went pretty smoothly. The control plate I had was from a triple and I toyed with the idea of wiring it so the two outer buttons were configured to switch necks but I was so happy with the toggle switches in my quad that I installed them on this as well.
All the other hardware is original except for the fretboards (from Jim Palenscar). It will have to share legs with the quad - not a problem as I can't imagine ever using both at the same time.
The only hitch was when I went to string her up, one of the tuners was slipping a cog when I tried to tune it. Luckily I had a spare strip (also with one faulty tuner) so a trip to my local metalwork shop and 15 minutes and 5 bucks later the bad one was lopped off one strip and one of the good ones chopped off the other strip.
I was really pleased with the paint job (thanks to another friend of mine who is a vintage car nut and offered to spray it for me). The Fender logo looks great against that colour.
Sorry for the poor quality pics but was too excited to wait. I'll post some better pics when I have them.

Well, it's horses for courses really. In my main band I only play steel on just under half the set and mostly all on the A6 neck so the quad is overkill for that really. And, of course, if space is tight on stage a quad is the last thing you need.
But there are definitely times when nothing but the quad will do. |

+1 on the colour. I was thinking of painting my stringmaster and this colour was one I was thinking of. Now that I see it I like it - it suits it.
