I have one and it's a top quality bar. But I will add my personal thoughts: I have an Emmons bar, a Sho-Bud bar, a John Pearse, a zirconia bar and a 15/16 zirconia bar, plus I tried a BJS bar. The difference between those is minimal, as far as tone is concerned. The Sho-Bud has a slightly more sparkling tone, the Emmons feels nicest in the hand, the zirconia bar is lighter in weight. If you already have a good stainless bar, the John Pearse will not give you a much better tone.

I have been using Pearse bars for a number of years. I've never tried a BJS bar, but whenever it's time to buy a new bar I always seem to select the Pearse, probably because it's a bit cheaper than a BJS. I have no complaint with the Pearse.

I have a JP "Hawaiian" bar that I like very much. Similar in size to Dunlop's Jerry Byrd bar.

I am a John Pearse dealer. I use a 7/8” John Pearse bar and have them in stock . I would be happy to sell you a new one at a very good price, it is a very comfortable bar with great tone and sustain.

I have 2, I love them. I have A and B'd them with a BJS and feel like I get a slightly fuller sound. BJS might produce a little brighter sound but we're talking about splitting hair. The Pearse feels just as smooth as a BJS. Just my opinion.

I've used BJS bars for years. Needed another bar so I ordered a new John Pearse thru the forum. Thanks for all the input!

Dave,

I used a heavy BJS bar for several years until the chrome plating was compromised. Then I went to a heavy John Pearse bar, and I have been happy with it. (I own two.) Tone-wise, I like the chrome-plated bars best (this may have something to do with the limited surface area of the hard chrome) but I have no complaints with the Pearse bars.
