I am selling a Gibson TB-100 Banjo for a friend of mine but have no idea of its worth, it looks pretty nice and has a serial #907440.
If any one has any idea of its approximate worth I'd appreciate it. I can post some pictures if that helps. _________________ Regards, Craig

A quick Google search shows current prices between $800 and $1500.
Condition makes a difference, and tenor banjos are not as popular as 5 strings. |

I am not a pricing expert but I think that serial number was issued during a time when Gibson numbers were confusing and even duplicated. I would recommend getting an account on banjo hangout and submitting your question with good photos.
Good luck!

Thanks, Brian and Larry, It's for an older gentleman, and I'd like him to get it's proper value.
I will list it here once I get it sorted out. _________________ Regards, Craig

TB-100 are on the cheaper side of vintage Gibson banjos, never owned one, so it could be just as good as Granada, don’t know, I think usually they would sell for anywhere from $600 and up... _________________ https://steelguitarsonline.com/ |

Craig, do a little research, I’m not a banjo expert, and I could easily be off ... _________________ https://steelguitarsonline.com/ |

a couple pcs would help. Gibson made this model pre war until they closed production in 2010, so it could be anywhere in that time. If you could get a pic of the back without the resonator and one of the front full length, I can put you very close in year and value. The right one could be as high as 2000, or could be 5 or 6 hundred depending. |

I am unaware of any prewar 100 series banjos. Damir's guess on starting price seems about right. |

The prewar versions were RB1, TB1 etc. The 100 series came out in the late forties I believe.
I found on the "Banjophiles" website that the serial number is from 1968. Reverb had one from that year sell for $899 last year.

I'll throw in my two cents. If this banjo was made in the late 60s it's probably a thin rim with a sunburst resonator. The better banjos were built with a three ply rim. Gibson was not making the best banjos at that time. If fitted with a five string neck and a tone ring it will make a nice entry level mastertone. |
