Hello
Can anyone tell me if P.Franklin is still building Pedabros and if not does any other builder make those guys?

Franklin has a patent on the Ped=A=Bro.
There were only about 25 or so built. |

Maybe he should consider selling it if he does not plan to ever build the instrument again. That way someone else could start build Pedabros and the steel community could take that instrument farther. It seems a shame to have invented something so neat and then not make anymore and not let anyone else build it either. Make me understand....

Another thing to think about...
Lots of folks build steel guitars, drums, guitars, trumpets, you name it. Why should the Pedabro be any different? That like saying that you invented the dob-banjo and no one can make one but you....
I'm sure I just don't get it

I agree with that....The Pedabro had a resonater on it and I know they didn't invent that thing and probably didn't pay any royalties to whoever did. It seems like anyone could make a resonator type pedal guitar if they wanted to....Have a good 'un..JH

if the Pedabro was viable & worth the investement, i'm sure they'd be produced by someone, somewhere
aside from Mr Franklin Sr, i have yet to see someone else take on the task
not even the Japanese or Chinese for that matter
there's gotta be some illuminated individual somewhere....

| The patent was granted on Nov 10, 1987. Patent protection lasts 20 years, I think. After that, other manufacturers will be free to build the invention. |

You can put palm pedals on a Dobro.
I have a mounting bracket now for positioning the BP-15 in the right place.
(The BP-12 was too long 9.5" put the pedals way over the bridge)
It is a "reversable" installation...
You can take it off and the instrument can be returned to "stock"!
I also have a three pedal assembly that works well on a GBDgbd tuning.

I do not make "a resophonic instrument that has a pitch changing mechanism" !
I just make Palm Pedals.
