I was thinking about Buddy the other day and thought you all might enjoy the performance/interview video I made when I was putting together my most recent book, "The 333 Book" subtitled "333 Licks, Tricks and Techniques That Every Guitarist Should Know."
This was in 2008 in Buddy's basement. A wonderful day with the best there ever was or will be.

That's a great video, just like being right there in the room with the man.
And a gorgeous take on Blue Jade to boot. Thanks for sharing this one! |

Thank you for posting that, Mike. He sure makes it look easy. Those harmonics just leap out of the steel! |

Doesn't work for me either. Just curious. Is it the one where he played King of the Road then demonstrated a few pockets he played out of? Thanks for posting the link. At least some can see it. |

At approximately 11:30 you and Buddy discuss two knee levers to get the 5 chord. Which two did he use? Were either of them a non-standard change that most players don't have? Thanks. |

Bobby, yes, that’s the one.
James, he used RKL and LKR to get the 5 chord and then tells the story of where he heard it and why he put those changes on his guitar. Go. back and listen again to that part. |

Thanks Mike. I thought he might have added some other special lever. This helped. |

Thanks Mike for posting this. I was fortunate to see Buddy play a few times at steel shows. I even attended a seminar at Charlie Norris' Music in Mesquite,Texas in the 1987 area. Buddy had everything a steel player could want, speed, playing ability on both necks and tone to die for. I look back now since his passing and realize how blessed we were to have a talent like him to look up to. |

Thanks Mike. That video was the whole reason I bought your book even though I don't play guitar. The interviews with Jernigan and Mike Aldrige were great, too.
Any chance you might ever make the audio of The concert you did with Buddy at Berkeley availabl, perhaps as a download so you wouldn't have to deal with packaging or shipping? |

Jack, The video of the Buddy concert is so bad I’m embarrassed to even let anybody look at it. The audio is pretty good though and I suppose I could make that available as a download. Let’s see if we have any interest in people listening to Buddy when he was at his best. |

Mike. I know it would be a pain in the neck to do, but I will gladly pay whatever you think is fair, I have a funny feeling A whole bunch of other people here would to. |

Thanks Mike, great clip - enjoyed it.
Buddy was always so modest as with the remark, "well that's the way I do it." |
