Just about anything Mike Johnson has played on. I always loved his solo on Me Neither by Brad Paisley.

Lloyd Green's 1969 solo break on Anthony Armstrong Jones' 1969 cut of Proud Mary. Lloyd's modulation run is nothing short of sensational for a 50 year old performance! In terms of playing, it still stands up today.

Any Paisley album has heavyweight aliens from another dimension! Alien The song reminds me a little of Cow Patti by Stafford.

I like that mod line from Lloyd's Proud Mary track! Very Happy

Of course Night Life is one of my favorites! I find Tommy Moran's playing on Gatemouth Brown's "I Wonder" to be really touching. Gives me chicken skin.

Always get a chuckle out of who I believe to be Freddie Tavares on the Spike Jones classic Hawaiian War Chant.

I had not been playing pedal steel very long in 1969, and the band I was playing in at the time wanted to do that number complete with Lloyd’s solo. I had sleepless nights over that one. I mentioned it to Lloyd about 18 months ago and he thought it was funny.

Further to Jack's experience, I sang 'Someday Soon' with Albert Lee & Hogan's Heroes at a London gig and had the pleasure of calling on the Big E to play the solo.

That was sorta fun!

When did you say your book was going to be published, Roger?

Gotta love the killer solo Rusty Young plays on Bad Weather, and the ride he takes at the end of Crazy Eyes, both by POCO. So fluid and tasteful!

That solo on Bad Weather is like a first love for me, and now that I have heard so many other great steel players, I realize it may not be the best of what steel players can do. But it is The One.

Dicky Overbey's neat break in Johnny Bush's "i'll be there." He made that sound so easy.
And...of source anything Buddy or Papa John ever recorded.

My favorite Grateful Dead tune from the first time I heard it.
The B & C pedal walk downs drove me crazy.
Jerry pretty much plays throughout like "teach your children" Razz

I love Pride Of Cucamonga, too.
Very fun to play, but hard to teach to the rest of the band in my experience, Uugh. Smile

Having to brush up on it again for an upcoming show. Good stuff.

I never get tired of listening to this Sneaky Pete solo. The start is out of this world. Too bad its 'hidden' deep in a Zappa album.

When Sneaky Pete’s break comes in on Frank Zappa’s “It Just Might Be a One Shot Deal” it is always a sock in the gut for me, as well as a reminder of everything I love about the instrument.

For me, its the steel break by Tom Brumley "I Sang Dixie"- by Dwight Yoakum..just simply wonderful and so fitting in the context of the song !

Ricky Davis, I was fortunate enough to get to sing that song with John playing the magical intro and turnaround. Even more haunting live and in person.

Jack, I was there (if it’s the time you’re referring to) in Kannapolis and heard you sing that song with John on steel! You did a nice job.

Jeff (skunk) Baxter on Steely Dans Pearl of the Quater. Everything he plays on this and others is amazing but when he hits those harmonics at the end of the Solo , I lose it every time.
