This Art Tatum Buddy DeFranco LP was one of the first jazz records I ever bought. All these years later it's just as flawless - gorgeous jazz improvising and accompaniment. Amazingly, DeFranco had the flu when he recorded the session but wouldn't let anything stop him from recording with Tatum. I always liked the tune "Deep Night" tune but never heard it anywhere and just discovered it's a Rudy Valle song from the 20s. I really dig that Dmin to Eb9 chord change.

Here's how I arranged the melody in C6th during yesterday's blizzard. I've got to work on figuring out a few of Buddy's licks as well! Hey - why are all the great players named Buddy? Smile

Here's computer-generated audio of the arrangement (and yeah, I know MIDI sucks for imitating a steel): https://picosong.com/wucaV/?fbclid=IwAR2_WLIph0CKtnFGjNuoK407nQBkGfKFWRm9xmsiGVNX0xQVOEK49zrC0gQ
