I see that Bruce used to make his two tone formica guitars with what looked like chrome stripping between the mica colors instead of the typical pearl/abalone. If you own one like that - is it really a chrome strip?

Just curious.....

Jim, I have two Zum D-10s. I think it is different depending on the guitar. My Hybrid has the chrome strip in question and it is an approximately 1/8” chrome tape similar the pin striping tape that would be used on an automobile. My other Zum has the abolone/ pearl stripe but it is an inlay. I hope this helps.

Well, on my Hybrid that mother of pearl looks very much like the famous "mother of toilet seat". 99% sure it is fake plastic pearl. Have never seen one with a chrome dividing strip.

When I had my Red, White & Blue lightning bolt built, Bruce said that his joints between colors were very tight & it may not need anything there. When he got it done he said it didn’t look right so he put on the chrome pinstripe. I was worried about it at first but it looks very good & I haven’t had a problem with it. I think I could have gotten the mop at extra cost but I’m happy with what I have. Seems that if you had a problem, it would be easily replaced with a steady hand.

Jim, FWIW I sent this picture and asked Bruce about acquiring this trim. You can see what he replied there on the right side. Just automotive trim tape.

I used some adhesive back 1/8" stuff from Autozoo.
