A band mate asked, and I couldn't find confirmation: who played pedal steel on the original Johnny Paycheck song A-11?

Found another thread with the exact same question as mine: the conclusion seems to be it was Sonny Curtis.

It was the Jones Boys with a studio guy on bass. Paycheck was the bass player in the Jones Boys in those days. The song was recorded at the RCA studio in New York City.There was a man named Aubery Mayhugh that was Paycheck's manager. Mayhugh was trying to help Paycheck get a solo career going. He had connections with some people at RCA and was able to book studio time. George and the band were in New York to do the Jimmy Dean Show (it was one of the first network tv shows to feature country music acts). So Mayhugh used the Jones boys on the record and since Paycheck was the singer, he hired a studio player to play bass. |
